Shown above is new Shanghai at night, featuring the Oriental Pearl Tower.

When comparing old Shanghai with new Shanghai, one of the biggest differences is the change in architecture style. An interesting note about old Shanghai is that due to the English, French, and America concessions, this side of the city features more colonial architecture.

New Shanghai, on the other hand, is more typical of a Western city, architecturally. While walking through new Shanghai, I couldn't help but feel a similarity to my time spent walking through Chicago. One thing to add: the skyscrapers & lights are way cooler in Shanghai!

From the Big Ben and colonial arches to skyscrapers with neon lights, it is evident so much change has happened, even through the architectural difference between old Shanghai & new Shanghai.
